Housing42 travels with Demi around the world

Housing42 is the proud sponsor of Demi Schuurs. Demi was born on August 1, 1993 in Sittard. She grew up in Nieuwstadt and had her first training with trite squash racket there at the age of three. In the following years Demi played tennis at TC Born. At the age of eight, Demi chose to train at the Limburg Tennis Academy in Bree under the guidance of Tom Devries. She still trains at the Limburg Tennis Academy, which has moved to Maaseik. Demi was very active and played football from the age of 6 to 12. In view of possible injuries, she chose to retire from football so that she could fully focus on tennis.

She has been playing tennis at a professional level since she was seventeen. Nice to mention is that Demi spends more time between the Belgians than between the Dutch. This explains her Belgian accent, which is clearly visible when you have a chat with her. Demi reached one of her high points in 2011 by qualifying for all four Grand Slam finals of which she managed to win the Australian Open and US Open. Extra special to mention is that Demi played these finals with four different doubles partners.

When Demi made the switch to seniors at the age of eighteen, it tasted like more. The hard work paid off, as Demi was selected in 2012 for the FedCup team in the Netherlands. "I feel that my tennis career really started then" said Demi. In 2015 she chose to focus entirely on doubles. This turned out to be a good choice, as she won both the WTA doubles final in Katowice and the WTA doubles final in Bucharest later this year. Demi has already participated a number of times in the main tournament of a Grand Slam.
